U.K. Phone Hacking Legal Claims Move Beyond Rupert Murdoch's ...

LONDON - Phone hacking legal claims in the U.K. have for the first time moved beyond Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., with one claim targeting a tabloid during the time it was led by CNN host Piers Morgan.

The stock of British newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror took a hit Tuesday following news that four civil damages claims are being brought against a unit of the company related to alleged phone hacking. As of 10:30am London time, the stock of the company behind the Daily Mirror and other publications, was down more than 10 percent.

According to the Guardian, the civil lawsuits, the first civil hacking claims not filed against News Corp.'s News International unit here, are being brought by Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati, Abbie Gibson, the former nanny for David Beckham and Victoria Beckham's children, former England national soccer team manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and former soccer player Garry Flitcroft.

Eriksson's claim focuses on the Daily Mirror tabloid during the time when Morgan was its editor. The paper's editor from 1995 until 2004, Morgan provided evidence to the Leveson Inquiry in December. In his apperance, he repeatedly denied knowledge of any illegal newsgathering techniques.

The three other claims focused on the Sunday Mirror and sister publication The People.

The report said full details of the claims will be filed after an initial court submission late Monday. A spokesman for the Trinity Mirror unit told the Guardian: "We have no comment; we are unaware action has been taken at the high court."

Sly Bailey, the former CEO of the firm, told the Leveson Inquiry into media standards and ethics this year that there was "no evidence that our journalists have been involved in phone hacking."

Postpartum Rehabilitation: Supporting the Well-being of the Mother ...

Every mother knows that having a child changes you:? physically, mentally, and socially.? What I didn?t realize was how poorly our country compares to others in helping its new mothers adapt to these changes.?

This summer I flew to New Zealand to visit my best friend and her new baby.? Having a two-year old myself, I thought that the greatest gift I could give was the comfort of an old friend to help with the cooking, cleaning, diapering, and simply talking about motherhood.? I personally experienced a difficult time during the postpartum period and wanted to be there for my friend as much as possible.?

As soon as she picked me up at the airport, I realized she was adjusting to motherhood just fine!? While we chatted and caught up, I realized the differences between her postpartum experiences and my own were more than two women handling the introduction to motherhood differently.? It reflected a cultural difference.?

In New Zealand women learn about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and postpartum rehabilitation.?? A midwife visits the new mother and child at their home regularly, often multiple times every week, for the first six weeks after birth, checking on the baby?s progress as well as the new mother?s physical and mental well being. The new mothers are screened for postpartum depression and the level of support given by family and friends is evaluated.?

Further, the new mothers are physically monitored and are referred to a women?s health physical therapist on a regular basis.? The physical therapist specializing in women?s health and postpartum rehabilitation checks for musculoskeletal concerns, which include diastasis (abdominal separation), posture, and pelvic floor strength and suggests appropriate exercises.? These interventions often result in reduced incontinence, back pain and diastasis, and provide a faster return to normal posture and body mechanics, including sexual intercourse. New Zealand?s culture embraces the notion of supporting and nurturing the mother?s mental and physical well-being as well as the infant?s.? ?

In the United States, pregnancy and childbirth overshadow the postpartum needs of the mother.? Women learn about childbirth and childcare, but ignore the importance of postpartum rehabilitation.? Instead, the nurse gives the mother a quick bit of postpartum instruction at check out, often buried in a packet of other information.?The mother?s six-week check-up does not usually address the musculoskeletal components so carefully checked in other cultures.?

There are no medical postpartum supervised exercises offered, and prevention, or at least alleviation, of incontinence, back pain, diastasis and poor abdominal function is rarely discussed.? Additionally, there is rarely any advice given regarding normal posture and body mechanics.? Often new mothers return to normal activities too soon, despite a nagging feeling (call it women?s intuition) that their bodies just are not right.? Our bodies are not the same after childbirth, yet we are not being taught how to regain our lost musculoskeletal function.?

In fact, the United States is significantly behind many developed countries in its care for women and postpartum rehabilitation. Canada, Australia, France, Germany, and the Netherlands all have postpartum programs developed to improve the musculoskeletal health of women during their child bearing years.??

Thankfully, with education we can change our culture to value the mother?s health as much as the health of her baby.? There is a small but growing group of healthcare providers who understand this and embrace the importance of postpartum rehabilitation.? Women?s Health Physical Therapists have unique musculoskeletal knowledge.? Working with them and your physician on postpartum education and assessments can improve your physical health, and your joy of life.

In Richmond, Women?s Health Physical Therapy offers a musculoskeletal check of your abdominal muscles, pelvic floor, posture, and the biomechanics you use in taking care of your baby.? Most insurance companies will cover postpartum care under the category of disuse muscle atrophy.

If you are expecting, I encourage you to continue to read up on the issues discussed above. If you are lucky enough to have already joined the ranks of new mothers, I urge you to request postpartum physical therapy.? Learn about musculoskeletal postpartum rehabilitation, and share what you learn.? Together we can change our culture, one mother at a time.????

Trinity Mirror faces phone hacking claims - media

LONDON (Reuters) - British newspapers belonging to Trinity Mirror are facing legal claims for phone hacking by four people, including former England football coach Sven Goran Eriksson, media said on Monday.

The only company previously sued for illegally hacking voicemail messages was News Group Newspapers, publishers of the now-defunct News of the World newspaper, which was part News International, the British arm of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation empire.

The latest claims allege that Mirror group journalists listened to the mobile phone messages of Eriksson, Abbie Gibson, former nanny for the Beckham family, former English football player Garry Flitcroft and actress Shobna Gulati.

The claims allege "breach of confidence and misuse of private information" relating to the "interception and/or misuse of mobile phone voicemail messages and/or the interception of telephone account".

No particulars of the claims have been filed, according to an article published on the Financial Times website.

Hacking allegations have in the past been directed at the Mirror titles, but the publisher of papers including the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and People has always strenuously denied any wrongdoing.

The four claimants, represented by Mark Lewis, who also represented other celebrities and claimants in action taken against News International, have four months to serve claims on Trinity Mirror, the FT said.

"There might not be a documentary smoking gun, but we will show there is a smoking bullet, the consequence of the actions," Lewis told Sky News on Monday.

Lewis was not immediately available for further comment.

The filed claims allege phone hacking took place at the Daily Mirror when Piers Morgan, who edited Murdoch's News of the World from 1994 to 1995 before editing the Daily Mirror from 1995 to 2004, was editor.

Morgan, now a CNN talk-show host in the United States, has consistently denied authorising phone hacking during his time as editor, which includes rejecting the claims at a high-profile Leveson Inquiry appearance in December.

Trinity Mirror has said publicly that it did not carry out an investigation into any alleged illegal practices at its titles because there was no evidence its journalists had hacked any phones.

Vital Pointers for Truck Accident Victims | Dreams Come True

Any type of personal injury could potentially cause an individual to evaluate or reevaluate specific aspects of her or his life; however, enduring a traumatic encounter from an auto accident might require additional self-examination and modifications to ones way of living too. Internal bodily harm, mobility hindrances, and physical anguish frequently affect a variety of an individuals life, and your injuries, whether long-term or short-term, might not be visible or sensed by you at first. Appropriately, making certain that the obligated person that caused the accident receives adequate actions must be the single most important factors to consider.

Truck Accidents ? How a Personal Injury Could Affect Your Way Of Life

Simply because you?re capable of in effect getting up and walking away from an accident does not inevitably indicate that your spirit, mind or body was unaffected. While directing your focus on replacement or repairs to your damaged car is certainly comprehensible, disregarding the instant or forthcoming effect of the accident could possibly be reckless from a mental and monetary stance. Whether it?s primarily clear or otherwise not, a personal injury can result in:

Reduced reasoning capability
Optical deficiency
Chronic headaches
Proper bodily movement issues
Joint, bone or muscle pain/aching

Such calamitous happenings will possibly influence nearly all areas of an individuals lifestyle, either short-term or long-term, worst case scenario, forever. Suitably, an accident victims recovery might include the necessity for a hospital stay (overnight or longer ? based on the personal injuries incurred), continuing physical or mental health therapy, or short-term/long-term modifications to his or her way of living. Even a slight encounter with endangerment could result in considerable suffering, and an auto accident (truck or car) might cause:

Anxiety
Exhaustion
Emotional worries
Inability to work
Lowered salary
Monetary worries

Choosing the Right Personal Injury Lawyer

Making sure the guilty party of the truck accident remains accountable, according to all laws, and safeguarding your protection under the law really should be your main focus after suffering from a personal injury. While there are actually frequently unoriginal things in these types of situations, having good personal injury attorneys who focus on personal injury claims (solely), ones pursuant to truck accidents, would be a great advantage in the courtroom. In regards to the automobile motorist and or his or her trucking employer or business, vital aspects must be addressed and some of these include:

Improper truck driving training
Driver exhausting
Mechanical issues with the truck
Ignoring safety laws and rules while on the road

The Benefits of Having Personal Injury Attorneys

Trucking agencies and business, individually operated or corporations, have employees and sources elected for reacting to any accident involving one of their trucks or motorists, as well as the equipment, and a speedy response is probably not simply for the benefit of the possibly harmed individual. Many times, trucking business visit the scene of the accident soon after it occurs, not only to determine the reason for the truck accident, but in addition to curtail any implicating proof and therefore lower the probability of being held liable too. In the majority of authorities, trucking businesses can lawfully remove evidence, on condition they have not established any type of official notice (legal). Devoid of having personal injury attorneys to arbitrate in the best interests of you, your personal injury case perhaps might not even hit the courtroom.

The Correct Alternative for You

All the personal injury attorneys don?t always have good reputations, and choosing the lawyer who is proficient, noteworthy, educated and experienced can be the diversity amid obtaining thorough legal representation, a satisfactory court ruling, and merely spending money for legal charges. A good and profitable defense will possibly remain contingent on if your lawyer is satisfactorily experienced with truck accidents and these kinds of personal injury claims in your location, and it the necessity to reply in a timely manner is comprehended and handled appropriately too. Choosing the precise types of personal injury attorneys and the right personal injury law firm to offer the best legal representation, to obtain the best personal injury compensation, and offer you confidence and serenity in your case is essential.

Obama or Romney: Whose debt reduction plan does history favor?

The two presidential candidates would pursue different paths to lead the US out of debt. Here's how debt-saddled countries of yore have dealt ? successfully and unsuccessfully ? with the problem, and how those lessons might apply today.

When President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney make their pitch to voters on how they'd tame the nation's debt and grow the economy, each suggests history is on his side.

It's partly campaign rhetoric, but it represents a substantive point: The way forward for the US economy will be smoother if the nation takes appropriate cues from the experiences of other countries ? and from its own past.

What are those lessons? The candidates have eagerly shared a few.

Mr. Obama notes that he arrived in office with the nation already in "the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression," a kind of contextual asterisk reminding voters to have patience on the road to recovery.

He also tells voters that a Romney presidency would return America to a failed Bush-era vision "that got us into this mess," a reference in part to policies that added to the federal debt while keeping taxes low for the rich.

And he refers to the policies of Abraham Lincoln, arguing that investments in education and infrastructure make government a contributor to economic growth, not an inhibitor.

Former Massachusetts Governor Romney says his tax reform would follow Ronald Reagan's 1986 approach, in which lower tax rates buoyed job growth, while limits on deductions helped ensure adequate federal revenue. And in the first presidential debate of the season, he pointed to the current financial crisis in Europe to make his case for big spending cuts.

"Spain spends 42 percent of their total economy on government. We're now spending 42 percent of our economy on government. I don't want to go down the path to Spain," he said.

So what are the most salient lessons history teaches about emerging from a deep slump ? one attended by banking woes and rising debt? This story will highlight three broad lessons.

First, some general points to set the scene:

? Although America's economic path has been rough over the past four years, the United States isn't doing badly compared with other instances when recession has been accompanied by troubles in the financial system. Charts comparing various "financial recessions" at home and abroad suggest the recent US course is typical. This still leaves room for interpretation when it comes to Obama's track record. Some can say that he missed opportunities to kindle a faster recovery, others that the economy has done better on his watch than he's been given credit for. In fact, both points may be true.

? When it comes to the way forward, Obama and Romney have similarities as well as differences. Although Romney calls for a cap on government spending at 20 percent of gross domestic product and Obama does not, both candidates have voiced support for reducing federal deficits. That hints at another similarity: Neither is calling for the kind of stimulative fiscal policy next year that many economists recommend.

? Forecasters generally expect things to get better over the next four years ? and for federal deficits to fall ? no matter who is elected. The job market is improving, and US households have made substantial progress in "deleveraging" after heavy borrowing during the housing boom, both of which should buoy the economy's consumer sector. A big caveat: Europe's debt crisis and America's "fiscal cliff" (expiring tax cuts and new curbs on spending) cloud the outlook.
