The Children?s Creativity Museum in downtown San Francisco gives kids of all ages a hands-on, multimedia and technological experience. The fun and unique environment offers children the chance to use multimedia arts for creative self-expression, and everyone gets to walk away with a unique media or art project that reflects their experience.
There are a variety of free-play areas for younger children to explore including a puppet show, slide, play dough?and art and craft stations. But the various labs and studios which provides interactive media tools for animation, sound and video production, live performance and visual arts are ideally for children ages five and up.
In the Design Studio visitors can learn how to manipulate photos, illustrations, text and symbols using Photoshop. They can make a self-portrait or design an album cover using original images, which can be printed out and taken home.
The Community Lab showcases an artist-in-residence experience, and the current presentation is called ?Creatura?. Children can curl up on a bean bag and play around with a series of iPads found on speckled toadstools. Finger painting motion is used to move and enlarge creatures that are also projected in surround-vision on the walls above them.
Stop-motion is learnt in the Animation Studio,?where children can build characters out of wire and clay, choose scenery and film their own movie, which can be captured on DVD to take home or sent to you via email.
Children can choose from 2,000 songs in the Music Studio where they can dress up in costume and perform on stage. Their performance can be turned into a DVD and taken home to share and impress family and friends.
Do you or your child wants to learn how a game, toy or app is designed? Some of the Bay Area?s innovative entrepreneurs, technologist and start-up founders are available to help design art and media tools of the future. The Innovation Lab nurtures design-thinking in kids of all ages by hosting monthly workshops with guest innovators.
There is an exciting opportunity happening on Saturday August 14?from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.?Pixar animator Austin Madison?will host a two-hour workshop that will teach children what they need to know about collaborative storytelling. They can even pitch their very own sequence of storyboards!
