I don?t see how this old man, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, actually thinks that anyone believes him. There is no way in hell that tourism from Europe to Thailand has increased this year.? No way in hell!
Yet, the Minster of Tourism and Sports went on the weekly talk show with Prime Minster Yingluck Shinawatra and made this wild ass claims.

The ongoing debt crisis in Europe has had no effect on the country?s tourism-related industries so far, says Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silpa-archa.
This is absolutely ludicrous.? When people don?t have jobs, people don?t have money, people don?t go on holiday to Thailand.? The price of fuel hasn?t lowered air fares any, the news of murder in Phuket and mysterious deaths on Koh Phi Phi, the ongoing scams in Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, the 2011 floods, and the ever possibility of political turmoil does not give a country more tourists than the previous year.
Speaking on the ?Yingluck Government Meets the People? weekly talk show on NBT on Saturday, Mr Chumpol said the number of foreign tourists from 11 European countries continued to increase from last year. As well, he said, the ountry was seeing healthy growth in arrivals Korea, Japan and China.
China and Korea maybe have a slight increase over last year ? but not the European countries.? Japan may be showing an increase since last year not many could travel because of the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown.
The minister attributed the tourism expansion to the success of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in restoring confidence in the country by visiting several countries soon after taking office.
This is too fucking funny.? PM Yingluck didn?t restore confidence in anyone, anywhere.? The Minister of Tourism and Sports is just a big ?suck-up?.
He forecast the number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand would reach 20 million this year, with total revenue of about 800 billion baht. Last year the country attracted 19.2 million visitors and about 770 billion baht in tourism revenue.
The Minister of Tourism and Sports can forecast any number he wants and then inflate the numbers and he will meet or exceed the number of foreign tourists predicted.? The real number of foreign tourist arrivals is about 1/2 what the Minister of Tourism and Sports claims.? The revenue number is pure ?wild ass guess? as it is physically impossible to know how much each and every tourist spends.
Mr Chumpol said he believed the ministry?s target to increase revenue of the tourism sector to 2 trillion baht in 2015 would be achieved.
Of course it will be achieved.? It will be achieved in the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Khun Chumpol?s mind.
